We're a family farm in the heart of Derbyshire, with direct ties to the communities who grow our coffee. Two decades of travelling, working and living alongside coffee farmers across the world brought us home with a clear purpose: to build something honest, rooted in real relationships, and genuinely good for everyone it touches.

Our roastery sits at the heart of our family farm. We roast in small batches to bring out the best in every bean, sourcing only from growers we know personally, through ethical supply chains built on trust and transparency. This isn't just coffee. It's a living connection between our community here in Derbyshire and the coffee-growing families in Nicaragua and beyond. People who have become dear friends, whose harvests we've shared, and whose futures we're invested in.
Pick a single bag to try, or set up a subscription so you never run out. Fresh, traceable, and roasted to order.
Every order is roasted at the farm and sent straight to you. No sitting in a warehouse. No compromises on freshness.
Your purchase directly supports the growers and families behind the coffee, here in Derbyshire and in the growing communities we're proud to work with.

We're Rachel and Simon. Rachel grew up on a Derbyshire dairy farm and has spent twenty years working on Fairtrade supply chains with smallholder coffee, fruit and nut producers across Asia, Africa and Latin America. Simon spent twenty years as a primary school teacher before swapping the classroom for a lorry cab.
In 2008 we set off for Latin America and ended up in El Sontule, a coffee-growing village in the mountains of northern Nicaragua. We lived with a coffee-growing family, harvested coffee, and became part of a community that left a deep mark on us. We came home in 2010 carrying that village's spirit of cooperation, care for the land and pride in the work.
In early 2025 we took our four children back to Nicaragua for four months. We returned with a clearer plan: a coffee roastery and workshop space on our family farm, built on the same values we'd seen lived out in El Sontule.
We've spent twenty years believing that coffee can be grown, traded and enjoyed in a way that's good for everyone it touches. Farm Roots is us finally doing something about it.
- Rachel & Simon
A business on our family farm that's a hub for sustainability, great coffee, and real human connection. We want to show there's a better way of growing, trading and enjoying what the land offers: one that's good for farmers, communities and the planet.
To bring communities together through a food system built on fairness, traceability and transparency. To be inspiring locally while staying deeply connected to the international growing communities we work with, always upholding fair trade, always celebrating the people behind what's in your cup.
Alongside our coffee, we run workshops and events at our farm, exploring coffee's journey from seed to cup, sustainable growing, food systems and the cultures behind what we drink. We believe sharing knowledge is as important as sharing great coffee.
